Cast
Matt Webb
as JOEY

Matt Webb enjoys skateboarding in the small town in Florida where he has lived his whole life. No Matter What is Matt’s first experience acting. He fell into it, almost by accident, when someone recommended him to the director because he was a skateboarder. He remains incredulous about her judgment in casting him. Matt is a natural actor, both highly perceptive and incredibly engaging on camera. He is interested in continuing to work in other films. And he’d be more than a little stoked if Vince Vaughn could be in one of them.
Matt has three distinct laughs; a terse, non-committal laugh (this means he doesn’t think you’re funny), one for when he is maybe mildly amused, and a genuine, unrestrained laugh that is both infectious and irrepressible – this is the best one.
Waylan Gross
as NICK
Waylan Gross grew up in a small town in Florida. He started skateboarding three years ago never suspecting that it would indirectly lead to his being cast in a movie. Waylan had never acted prior to No Matter What, but his effervescent personality and natural charm come across exceptionally well onscreen.
Waylan was named after Waylon Jennings, only spelled different. Nothing would make him happier than going to California. His four favorite things are skateboarding, girls, candles, and butterflies. And cheeseburgers.
Amy Seimetz
as LAURA
This year, Seimetz completed her first feature film City on a Hill, which was selected for the 2009 IFP Director’s Labs. She also completed production for a short she co-wrote, co-directed and starred in, with filmmakers Mary Bronstein and Ronnie Bronstein. She co-produced and acted in Joe Swanberg’s next film Silver Bullets. She also produced a film for Alison Bagnall starring Greta Gerwig and Olly Alexander that is tentatively called “40 Day Dream”.
She recently acted in Alexander the Last, with Jess Weixler, directed by Joe Swanberg, and produced by Noah Baumbach and Anish Savjani. Seimetz acted in several films coming out this year— including Bitter Feast starring James Legros and Joshua Leonard directed by Joe Maggio, One Night Only starring Garret Dillahunt and Kristen Wiig, and Lena Dunham’s Tiny Furniture.
She also performs regularly in an experimental comedy duo called Machu Picchu, a multi-media experience described as “Japanese game show meets Sesame Street meets Grey Gardens all riding a unicorn.”
